In the solo A Moment, Sabine Molenaar examines what happens when you close your eyes and ears, even if it is just for a moment, to escape this permanent flow. But then you find that there are also images on the inside of your eyelids, and sounds and voices that echo in the cavities of your head. It is a place of disorientation, but also of safety and calm.
'An example of complete control. This is what A Moment, a dance solo by Sabine Molenaar, is. She composes her body in complex twists and folds. Not to become a greaseman, or a circus act, but to transform fully into a hypersensitive, delightful, constant shifting human sculpture. As a consequence of bizarre perspectives, the idea of a body disappears, but at the same time the images remain humane and personal, an outcome of her introverted state of mind.'
Mirjam van der Linden, Volkskrant (NL)'Sabine Molenaar's A Moment forms a strong opening to the programme. … In her performance, Sabine Molenaar discharges all forms of recognition and expectation, her adjustable body is inimitable and utterly free. Even though her eyes are closed, she is so fascinating as a performer and choreographer that the viewer is completely enthralled.'
